Taunton Rowing Club enjoyed a wonderful day of competition at Exeter Regatta on Saturday July 9th. Over 150 crews from nine rowing clubs took part in some 200 races along a 450 metre sprint course at Exeter Quays. Several competitors had to endure one or two heats to reach the final, requiring considerable stamina. The seniors and juniors were involved in some very close finishes, with several narrowly missing out on a win. Sam Smith had yet another close finish in his Men’s Senior C final. Sam has been invited to trial for the Welsh Junior Squad this week in Cardiff. The fitness, commitment and sheer power of junior, Liv Reid, proved too much for her competitors as she won the Women’s Junior 18 Single Sculls Trophy race, by a staggering two lengths. Liv proved that long hard training and a determination to win is a powerful combination.
